Spoon Carving Workshop at Faldonside Eco 

 

I am running a full day spoon carving workshop near Melrose on Sunday 8 November. 

 

The course gives you all the skills you need to carve a wooden spoon using hand tools. Starting from a log of green wood, we cover all the techniques: safe use of axes straight knives and hook knives, burnishing and oiling. I also cover wood species, spoon design and common greenwood carving dilemmas. 

 

The workshop is suitable for beginners. It takes place on the edge of a lovely riparian woodland. There is a soup lunch provided around the fire, tea and coffee and lots of cake. It will be a lot of fun and you'll leave with a wooden spoon made with your very own hands.
