Green Woodwork
I make kitchen treen (spoons, bowls, cups and more) from locally-sourced green wood. I sell my wooden wares at different places across the Scottish Borders. I also teach beginner spoon carving for individuals or groups. I am a member of the Association of Pole-Lathe Turners & Green Woodworkers. My spoons are made from green wood, often taken from gardening or local tree surgeons. Using a saw, a carving axe and specialist knives, my aim is to make an artwork that is beautiful and useful.

Spoon Care and Useful Information
My wooden ware is oiled using cold-pressed linseed oil. This helps preserve and protect the wood. It is entirely food safe. For jazzing up with colour, I use milk paint, which is then covered with a layer of linseed oil. Again, this is entirely food-safe. I cook and eat using wooden spoons every day.
I recommend re-oiling any wooden products every six months. You can use any food-safe oil: linseed oil or walnut oil are good options. Do not use boiled linseed oil as this is toxic. Please only hand wash wooden items, using washing up liquid. The high temperatures and detergents in dishwashers can rinse out oils and damage the wood, causing a shorter lifetime and discolouration.
